Establishment of child friendly nutrition site report March 23
ACRIF is currently implementing effective program which is Support scale-up of preventative and curative nutrition services for children and women in Togdheer and Sahil regions of Somaliland To reduce morbidity and mortality in children less than five years as well as PLW in priority gap areas in Barbara,Burco, Odwayne,and Buhoodle District. The project was initiated in Oct,2022 with the aim of providing an emergency lifesaving targeting mainly nutrition status for most vulnerable communities.
In famines and food shortage situations, providing food alone is not enough Child growth and brain development depend on good nutrition and stimulation and caretaker emotional responsiveness, The brain is most responsive in the first three years of life. This is when it grows and develops fastest There is strong evidence that combined program improve growth and developmental outcomes in short and long term ACRIF established a child friendly nutrition site by drawing cartons and pictures of local animals, fruits etc. and providing ECD materials to make local toys for 32 fixed health facilities and SC to entertain kids during screening, treatment and IYCF sessions.
