Semi-annoul review meeting Report March 24
ACRIF, founded in 2008 and headquartered in Hargeisa, Somaliland, is currently leading the implementation of a pivotal UNICEF-funded nutrition project in the Togdheer and Sahil Regions of Somaliland. Named "Support Scale-up Of Preventative and Curative Nutrition Services for Children and Women in Togdheer and Sahil Regions of Somaliland," this initiative spans a 36-month period from October 2022 to December 2025. It encompasses 32 health facilities and 1 Stabilization Center spread across Burco, Odwayne, Buhodle, Berbara, and Sheikh Districts.
The project aims to significantly enhance nutrition outcomes for children under 5 years and pregnant and lactating women through comprehensive, community-based and facility-based interventions. The primary objective of the project is to improve the nutritional well-being of vulnerable populations in Togdheer and Sahil Regions. It focuses on reducing the prevalence of severe acute malnutrition (SAM) and enhancing the capacity of local health facilities to provide effective nutrition services. This includes the identification, referral, and treatment of SAM cases, as well as community mobilization for health education and promotion of optimal nutrition practices.
