ACRIF is a child rights organization. ACRIF was founded in 2008 and has its headquarters in Hargeisa, Somaliland. ACRIF is a development and humanitarian organization that advances children’s rights and equality for girls and boys. We strive for a just continent, working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners.
A continent where every child realizes their rights and reaches their full potential.
ACRIF endeavors to protect and promote all the inherent and indivisible rights of children whoever and wherever they are in Africa. ACRIF works every day to give children a healthy start in life, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm. We enable the children, their families and their communities to meet their basic needs and to increase their ability to participate in and benefit from their society.
We strive for a just continent that advances children’s rights and equality for boys and girls. We engage people and partners to:
Empower children, young people and communities to make vital changes that tackle the root causes of discrimination against children, exclusion and vulnerability.
Support the safe and successful progression of children from birth to adulthood.
Ensure that children everywhere have access to the benefits and services to which they are entitled (right to survival, right to protection, right to development, right to participation), and to a healthy and safe environment which is their due as human being.
Work with children and communities to prepare for and respond to crises and to overcome adversity.
Carry out statistical researches on issues relevant to children and their families to generate evidence on the status of the children.
Sensitize civil society and the authorities on child rights issues.
Drive change in practice and policy at all levels through our reach of the realities children face.
We operate on the principle of recognizing and respecting children’s rights, and acknowledge that all people are born free and equal in dignity and rights.
We collaborate with like-minded organizations, donors, and stakeholders. We consider all those individuals, communities, and organizations that join hands to better the lives of children as partners.
ACRIF strives to ensure fairness and importantly, advocates for structures, systems and processes that facilitate achievement of children’s rights. ACRIF strives to ensure justice and equal opportunity for all.
We strive to have a significant and lasting impact on the lives of children and young people. We challenge ourselves to be bold, responsive, focused, and innovative.
We relentlessly pursue to attain the highest standards in all that we do by encouraging those attitudes that sustain the interests of children above one’s own self interests.
We strive to maintain the highest standards of personal honesty and behavior; we preserve our reputation and consistently act in the best interests of children.
At the heart of ACRIF’s years-long engagement rests the idea of Partnerships. ACRIF considers all those individuals, communities, and organizations that join hands for the betterment of women and children’s lives as Partners. Beneficiary communities, the line ministries, donors, and other key stakeholders from civil society constitute the most important ACRIF’s Partners.
