Project Overview

Target Population: Women and girls in 1,200 target households, including women of reproductive age.

Location: Oodweyne, Hargeisa, and Gabiley districts, Somaliland.

Duration: Multi-year.

Donor / Partner: WHH/BMZ.

Primary Goal: Improve household food security, nutrition, dietary diversity, and economic resilience through female-led kitchen gardening.

Rationale & Context

With WHH/BMZ support, ACRIF implemented a multi-year initiative centered on female-led kitchen gardening. The project trained households in sustainable home gardening and provided selected households with tools and seeds so they could begin food production, diversify diets, reduce reliance on external food sources, and potentially sell surplus produce.
