Guiding Principles

Our Strategy:

To fulfill the promise of the 2023 Global Goals, our new 5-year strategy 2023—2027 is designed to deliver significant changes for girls and boys, putting a special emphasis on gender equality. We see clear links between fulfilling children’s rights and achieving gender equality. Every girl and boy has the right to be healthy, educated, protected, valued, and respected in their own community and beyond. We support these rights from when children are born to when they reach adulthood. We work to ensure that girls and boys know their rights and the skills, knowledge, and confidence to fulfill them.

Our Approach:

ACRIF takes a comprehensive and holistic approach to humanitarian and development programming. We use a multi-sector approach to promote the good of every child and woman. Our commitment to the multi-sectoral approach is shared throughout our network and provides common ground for the development of agreed priorities and programs.

We place great importance on building local capacity and long-term community resilience. Our approach inspires and empowers children and communities to create long-lasting change.

ACRIF’s blended and integrated programming ensures a holistic approach to meeting both humanitarian and development needs of target communities. ACRIF uses empowerment approaches that are participatory and community-based to enhance ownership of the projects by the beneficiary communities. We are committed to seeking effective transitions to create sustainable local ownership and government support. Years of commitment in all regions in Somaliland has resulted into a deep-seated relationship of trust with these communities and their local leadership. This makes ACRIF uniquely placed to efficiently deliver humanitarian and development interventions across all regions in Somaliland.

Our Advocacy

ACRIF advocacy focuses on ensuring national governments to meaningfully implement and uphold laws that advance children’s rights and gender equality. ACRIF speaks out on behalf of and together with the children in the communities where we work.

Our Experience:

ACRIF is one of the leading child rights organizations and has more than 15 years of experience in delivering humanitarian and development programs in the region. Our programs focus on the needs of the most vulnerable populations, particularly children, adolescent girls, and women. Children, adolescent girls, and women are at the heart of ACRIF’s humanitarian and development efforts because our experience shows that their gains translate into benefits for families and communities. Our expansive reach and long-standing reputation as a leader in child rights distinguish us from other organizations.

Our Aspiration

We aspire every child to enjoy good health and nutrition; to be educated for life; to be cared for and protected.
