Primary Goal: Strengthen children’s capacity to influence decisions affecting their lives, promote active civil society support for child rights, and strengthen systems and structures for the fulfilment of children’s rights.

Rationale & Context

ACRIF received funding from Save the Children International (SCI) to implement the Child Rights Governance (CRG) project. The project contributed to developing children’s capacity to influence decisions affecting their lives and promoted an active civil society that supports child rights. It also strengthened systems and structures for the fulfilment of children’s rights in the country.

Key Project Components

• Strengthen children’s knowledge and capacity to participate in decisions affecting their lives.
• Orient school principals and focal teachers on Child Rights Governance objectives and their role in supporting child participation in school governance.
• Build children’s knowledge and preparedness through Child-Centered Disaster Risk Reduction training.
• Support primary schools with basic education, hygiene, and sports materials.
• Promote stronger systems and structures that support the fulfilment of children’s rights.

Expected Outcomes

• Children are better able to participate in and influence decisions that affect their lives.
• School leadership and focal teachers have increased understanding of Child Rights Governance and child participation.
• Primary school children have improved awareness and capacity in Child-Centered Disaster Risk Reduction.
• Target schools have improved access to basic education, hygiene, and sports materials.
• Child rights systems and structures are strengthened.
