Target Population: 625 households, representing about 3,750 people, in targeted IDP communities and Yaroowe village.

Location: Koosaar, Aden Saleban, Ali Hussein, and Yaroowe, Burco District, Togdheer Region. 

Duration: 24–27 October 2014.

Donor / Partner: Genel Energy, Ministry of Environment and Rural Development, and ACRIF foundation.

Primary Goal: Distribute 625 Wonderbags to targeted communities to reduce charcoal costs and household energy expenses while supporting environmental protection.

Rationale & Context

 ACRIF Foundation, in partnership with Genel Energy and the Ministry of Environment and Rural Development, distributed Wonderbags to targeted communities in Burco. The initiative aimed to reduce household charcoal costs and help address environmental degradation linked to charcoal use.

Key Project Components

1.  Wonderbag Distribution

• Distribute Wonderbags to targeted households.
• Reach communities in Koosaar, Aden Saleban, Ali Hussein, and Yaroowe.

2.  Community Demonstration and Awareness

• Demonstrate how to use Wonderbags correctly.
• Share safety messages on proper use and handling.

3.  Supervision and Coordination

• Supervise the distribution process.
• Coordinate with community mobilizers and Genel Energy representatives.
• Distribute IEC materials to beneficiaries.

Expected Outcomes

• Reduced household charcoal use and costs.
• Improved knowledge of safe Wonderbag use.
• Increased use of energy-saving cooking methods.
•  Greater support for environmental protection.
