ACRIF has successfully concluded a two-day National Consultative Meeting focused on validating the Multisectoral Nutrition Strategy and reinforcing the essential role of media, academia, and research institutions in advancing nutrition outcomes in Somaliland.
The meeting underscored that achieving sustainable nutrition outcomes requires more than service delivery—it demands strong evidence generation, knowledge translation, and strategic communication.
Discussions highlighted that academic institutions are central to building national nutrition capacity, integrating nutrition into curricula, and producing locally grounded research to inform policy and programming. Research institutions were recognized for their role in generating timely data, identifying trends such as the triple burden of malnutrition, and supporting innovation and learning across sectors.
The meeting further emphasized the importance of media as a strategic partner in nutrition, capable of shaping public perceptions, promoting healthy dietary behaviors, amplifying evidence-based messages, and fostering accountability by tracking progress on nutrition commitments.
Participants called for stronger institutional linkages between government, academia, research bodies, and media to ensure that the Multisectoral Nutrition Strategy is implemented through coordinated, informed, and transparent action.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to strengthening collaboration, investing in local research, and empowering media professionals to support sustained nutrition advocacy and behavior change in Somaliland.
ACRIF reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating multisectoral partnerships that place evidence, communication, and accountability at the center of nutrition action.
