Stakeholder Workshop for the Development of the National Media Toolkit for Nutrition and Food Systems

Over the last two days, journalists, media practitioners, nutritionists, food scientists, public health experts, and other key stakeholders came together for an important and collaborative workshop focused on co-designing a brand-new Media Toolkit on Nutrition, Food Systems, and Food Safety.

The workshop provided a valuable platform for participants to collaborate, exchange knowledge, deliberate on key nutrition and food systems issues, and contribute their expertise toward developing a practical and evidence-based resource for media professionals.

The new toolkit is designed to equip journalists and media practitioners with the right resources, practical insights, key messages, and evidence-based information they need to communicate nutrition and food-related issues more accurately, clearly, and effectively. It will support media professionals in enhancing public literacy, addressing misinformation and misconceptions, and strengthening public understanding of maternal, infant, young child, and adolescent nutrition, healthy food choices, food safety, and sustainable food systems.

Through stronger access to reliable information and expert knowledge, the toolkit will help bridge the gap between scientific evidence and public communication, enabling the media to play an even more meaningful role in informing communities and supporting healthier choices and behaviours.

The discussions also highlighted the important role of the media in translating complex scientific and technical information into clear, accessible, and engaging messages that communities can understand and use in their everyday lives.

A huge thank you to all participants, facilitators, experts, partners, and stakeholders who contributed their valuable time, knowledge, experience, and perspectives throughout the two-day workshop. Your commitment and collaboration have been instrumental in shaping a resource that responds to the real needs of media professionals and the communities they serve.

Together, we are building a stronger bridge between science, policy, and public communication and creating opportunities for more accurate, informed, and impactful conversations around nutrition, food systems, and food safety.

We look forward to taking the next steps toward finalizing the toolkit and sharing it with media professionals and stakeholders.

Stay tuned as we prepare to launch and share the final Media Toolkit!
