The African Children’s Rights Foundation (ACRIF) proudly took part in the national launching ceremony of World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) 2025, held at the Ambassador Hotel in Hargeisa, Somaliland.
This year’s global theme, “Enabling Breastfeeding: Making a Difference for Working Parents,” emphasized the urgent need for family-friendly policies and workplace support to ensure that all mothers can breastfeed successfully, regardless of their work conditions.
The event brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from government ministries, UN agencies, NGOs, and community-based organizations. The ceremony featured inspiring speeches, technical presentations, vibrant traditional songs, and a captivating drama performance illustrating the real-life challenges working mothers face in breastfeeding.
ACRIF remains committed to advocating for maternal and child nutrition through multi-sectoral partnerships, policy engagement, and community education. The event served as a powerful reminder of the progress made — and the ongoing efforts needed — to create supportive environments for mothers and caregivers across Somaliland.
